Kly Shamrocks 5 Silsden 3

Silsden have had an excellent run of form, coming into this game on the back of 5 victories and should have been full of confidence. However, the first half was an entirely one sided affair with Shamrocks dominating throughout. The home side had much more commitment and belief and were soon 2 goals in front. The lead should have increased further from the spot, after a penalty was awarded for handball, but Silsden's keeper George Muir managed to stop the shot. This did nothing to improve Silsden's performance and only seemed to galvanise Shamrocks who scored a further goal to make it 3 nil at half time.

The away side started the second half in much the same fashion, second to virtually everything, and Shamrocks quickly added 2 further goals. With no substitutes available to change the game, Silsden instead changed formation, bolstering the midfield in an attempt to keep the score line respectable This proved to be a master stroke, as they managed to pull back 3 goals. The first was created from George Slingsby's pass to Jack Shaw on the edge of the "D". The keeper could not hold onto Shaw's shot, the ball falling kindly to Tommy Snowdon who was in the right place to tap it into the net. Shaw was again creator as his corner was scrambled to the edge of the area, where Callum Hey was lurking. Hey's pass into the middle was deflected back to him just inside the corner of the box, this time he chose to strike low and hard. A good decision as the ball found it's way through a crowded area into the far corner. This resurgence gave Silsden some momentum, they started passing and moving, with a lot of positive play going through Tommy Snowden. Another penalty was awarded this time to the away side, but Cameron Allen like the Shamrocks, could only find the keeper. Silsden had further chances to pull level, but could only reduce the deficit to 5-3 with a final goal being put away by Snowden after the ball had ping ponged around the area. Silsden were disappointed not to manage a point, but had a lot to thank goalkeeper George Muir for, as he made a number of important saves and was awarded man of the match.
