Under 11 Silsden 6 Farsley Celtic 3

These two teams now know each other very well, playing three games back to back. Silsden having the edge, after winning away in the league and then at home in the cup. However, both the previous two games were tight encounters, which could have gone either way. Silsden got into a good rhythm early on, with the lion's share of the possession. Jack Shaw has performed well in midfield this season, with an excellent work rate and close control he is often the catalyst for Silsden's best attacking moves. So it came as no surprise when Shaw broke the early deadlock, picking his spot with a low drive from distance into the corner of the net. Farsley have looked good on the break throughout the three encounters and equalised when Silsden's keeper George Muir's dived to deny Farsley's striker, but the ball was not cleared and was soon nestling in the goal. The home team were not behind for long though, as they drove down the pitch straight from the kick off in a slick move where Tommy Snowden (who also gave an excellent workman like performance) slipped the ball past Farsley's keeper. A third followed shortly after, when Nathan Town latched onto a good through ball. The deficit would have been much greater at the break if it had not been for the away team's keeper, who pulled off two breathtaking saves, including Alex Booton's dipping shot from distance that was tipped round the post.

Farsley started the second period much brighter and tested Muir with an early shot. The usually assured keeper spilled the ball, which unfortunately fell to a striker, who had gambled on following the shot in and could not miss the resulting chance. This seemed to galvanise Silsden who then went onto score a further goal when Tommy Snowden again found the net. Then scorer turned provider, when Snowden put the ball on a plate for strike partner Nathan Town to complete his own brace. The final two goals were scored by defenders who put the ball in their own net. A deadly ball across the front of goal would have been converted by Nathan Town, however a defender manged to get in front of him, but could only knock the ball into his own goal. Silsden's captain Cameron Allen is a superb defender, leading by example and winning virtually everything in the air. Unfortunately he connected with a high cross that looped over Muir into the net. The final incident of the game, came when a Silsden player was felled in the box, the ref had no option but to point to the spot. Nathan Town tried in vain to complete his hat trick, he went for power with a low shot that went agonising wide of the target. In their most complete performance so far this season any number of players could have been picked as man of the match, however Jack Shaw's skillful runs shone out and he was awarded the honour. Final score 6-3.
